Passover Information

The Smith Dining Site has information on Passover meals. During the holiday, the Kosher line Cutter-Ziskind is open by reservation only for lunch and dinner. All meals are cooked in the meat kitchen with vegetarian alternatives. If you have not reserved yet, please email passover@smith.edu WITH THE FORM as soon as possible to be added to the waiting list.

All Smith houses will have matzah. Cutter-Ziskind will have Passover cereal and other items for breakfast (ie, cheese) that will be stored in the regular kitchen. The Smith Kosher Co-Op in Dawes house will have food available for breakfast each morning. Stop by for cheese, cereal, yogurt, or to make yourself matzah-brei!

First Seder is being held at Amherst College and the Second Seder at Smith. Please email hillel@smith.edu to reserve a spot at either of these meals (free to students at Smith or Amherst and $18 suggested donation for all others).

Hag Kasher v'sameach.

Passover at Smith (2007)

We are now taking reservation for Passover meals at Smith. Breakfast is available at the Kosher K and lunch and dinner at Cutter Ziskind's Kosher Line. Lunch and dinner are available for Jewish members of the Smith community by prior reservation only.
If you are on the Jewish student list, you should be receiving an email shortly.
If you are not on the list but will be wanting to reserve space at a meal, stop by the Kosher Dining line and speak to Joe.

Recent Reaction From A Satisfied Student

I wanted to let you know how wonderful the kosher dining is! I have begun eating almost all of my meals there and the food is just delicious. Joe and the rest of the staff are very friendly and cheerful! Having kosher dining at Smith makes it a lot easier for me to eat (I am kosher) and be full (the food is very satisfying) and I know other students really appreciate it as well. Please let everyone in kosher dining know how much I and many others appreciate their hard work!

Countdown

We are in the final stages of construction and kitchen set-up. Our current plan is to start serving kosher meals Thursday Sept. 8th at lunchtime. The Cutter-Ziskind dining staff are excited to get started but we ask your patience as we work out the glitches. I am proud to announce that our facility will be under the supervision of the Springfield Vaad HaKashrut (the regional kosher agency). This has taken a lot of work and discussion to start us off at a mainstreme Orthodox standard.
A Mashgiach (Kosher supervisor) who represents the Vaad will be on-site during all food preparations (supplemented by me). Students who meet the Vaad's requirements and have undergone training will work with me to serve the food and supervise hours when the kitchen is not preparing food but needs to be open.

I can't wait to join you for lunch next Thursday. Please feel free to ask me any questions and offer feedback.

Thanks,
Rabbi Bruce

Construction Almost Done; Getting Close

We are now two weeks away from the opening. There is an army of contractors working everywhere. It has been a very busy few weeks of construction, kashering, meetings, etc. We will be doing kashering this Friday and getting everything set up next week.
I am waiting for new pictures taken by the Smith photographer.

See you soon,
RB
